Helly Hansen Annual Report by Wanken.
I came across Wanken’s work when ISO50 announced they would be adding a new contributor to their already impressive lineup of design ninjas. I wasn’t surprised to find such an impressive body of work. I was blown away however when I saw how young this guy is! This Annual Report was a student project. No wonder this young guy has caught some serious attention, this annual report is simply surgical in it’s execution. I strongly suggest visiting Wanken for an in depth view at his process. I promise it’s worth checking out.

In school we were given a wide selection of projects and were told to choose from them. I opted out of the annual report, didn’t seem like it was something I would be interested in. Maybe it’s time I give it a try, definitely feeling inspired.
I have always liked the format of annual reports — lots of white space and plenty of creative ideas. I’ve never had the opportunity to design any, but this has inspired me to consider designing one for a faux company.
Thanks for sharing this Mat!
No problemo. I’m in the same boat. The more I think about it, the more I get excited about approaching this as a personal project. I think I may just start some preliminary ideas tomorrow. You should too Teddy, let’s do it.
OK sure! This could be really fun. We can share what we come up with after we’re done. Send me an email when you finish yours. I’ll try to post a write-up of my process and the finished product on my blog when I’m done. I have really been needing to do some designing lately, and this will be a great way to keep me motivated!
ok I tell you what. On Greyscale Gorilla’s screencast today he really focused on the need for deadlines. How about we decide that these are to be done 1 month from Friday. So we have 4 weeks, it’s due for unveil June 11. That sound good?
Don’t you mean June 19? But otherwise that sounds good. Should be exciting!
Err, June 21 if it’s a month from Friday.
We’re both wrong. it’s June 18 if it’s four weeks from friday. ha ha
Oh, I was adding 31 days instead 28 (4 weeks * 7 days), but we can go with June 18 if you want. :)
Deadline’s up, let’s see the annual reports guys ;)
Ha ha it’s so embarassing, we both got bogged down with projects. Definitely never ever posting a deadline on here again. Sorry Ian. Maybe I’ll post the cover cause that’s as far as I got.
great!
So I did end up finishing that report after all. It was late but I did finish it. http://www.matmacquarrie.ca/2010/09/10/fender-product-catalog/
